The MELT Method® (MELT) is a self-treatment technique that helps prevent pain, heal injury, and minimize the negative effects of aging and active living. MELT simulates the hands-on techniques that manual therapist Sue Hitzmann uses to eliminate stress, pain, and dysfunction in her private clients. This unique Hands-off Bodywork™ approach is the first treatment that simulates the techniques – and the results – of manual therapy.
MELT is the first neurofascial technique. This method brings your body back to a more ideal state by directly enhancing body awareness, rehydrating connective tissue, and quieting the nervous system. The first time you MELT, you see and feel a difference – and over time, you can transform how your body looks and feels. This proactive approach to maintaining a healthy, pain-free, active lifestyle is a great addition to the exercise and self care you are already doing. MELT is also a great starting point to bring a little more movement into your life if you are currently inactive.
MELT offers the opportunity for anyone, regardless of age or fitness level, to improve their balance, stability and tensegrity through self-treatment. The consistent results MELT yields are remarkable and undeniable. MELT utilizes a system of soft foam rollers and small balls that lengthen and hydrate the connective tissue.
Our connective tissue surrounds every joint, muscle, nerve, bone and organ. Unaddressed trapped tension causes connective tissue dehydration and cellular damage. This creates a domino effect that begins with aches and stiffness and leads to common health problems such as neck and low back pain, headaches, insomnia, digestive problems and injury. Accelerated aging and chronic health problems can follow; leaving us with limited options such as medication, surgery and a sedentary lifestyle.
However, when our connective tissue is hydrated and free of roadblocks, our bodies function more efficiently. MELT keeps our connective tissue and nervous system in top condition and helps minimize the aches and pains of aging. MELT rejuvenates tissue hydration and relieves the tension of day-to-day life.
To attend a group class, participants must be comfortable enough to get on and off the floor and roller, and must be able to lie on the floor on their backs for short periods of time. If pain makes this too difficult, an individual session is a better option. (See information about individual sessions) Please contact Shannon prior to attending class. There is limited availability in some classes, but most classes have short waiting lists.
