I have been a licensed massage therapist in the Eugene area for over a decade. The focus of my practice is on injury prevention and the relief of chronic pain and injuries through the use of deep tissue massage, Swedish massage and myofascial release techniques. I also use a variety of acupressure points and stretches to design a treatment that will bring relief to each individual.
I received my original training in bodywork at the Minnesota Center for Shiatsu Study in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The training introduced me to the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the benefits of an Eastern approach to healing. I also learned the Meridian system and the use of Shiatsu, Japanese acupressure massage.
Upon moving to Eugene in 1999, I continued studying massage at Lane Community College. Throughout the years I have enhanced my schooling through the study of deep tissue massage and pregnancy massage. Most recently I have taken classes on myofascial release techniques through the Rolfing Institute and through the “Anatomy Trains” course designed by Tom Meyers.
In addition, I have studied prenatal massage and especially enjoy working with women throughout their pregnancies. Massage relieves many of the aches and pains that pregnancy presents as a woman’s body changes. It is such a special time, and connecting with women during this time is one of my favorite aspects of my practice.I have a prenatal massage table that allows mama’s to lie comfortably prone while being massaged.
I feel very fortunate to have found massage therapy as a career path. As a college student at Denison University in Ohio, I studied Biology and English. Having that science background helps to enhance my understanding of the body. And I am happy to combine that with my enjoyment of meeting and interacting with people, hearing their stories, and talking about ideas. This makes massage a natural fit for me.
Aside from massage, I enjoy hiking and camping in the beautiful Oregon mountains, gardening, exercising, reading and spending time with my family. I have a young daughter who delights me with her insights and humor everyday.
I do bill health insurance for qualifying clients and work with people involved in Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVAs). I bill and work with insurance companies directly so that the client does not have to. My rates are as follows:
30 Minutes: $35
60 Minutes: $70
90 Minutes: $100
These rates reflect a $20 discount for payment at time of service.
